What are the causes of truck accidents?

Truck accidents oftentimes result in catastrophic injuries and harm to victims. Commercial trucks can be a safety hazard for smaller vehicles, which is why truck accident victims should be familiar with legal resources available to help them when they have been harmed.

When the negligence of a truck driver or trucking company has caused harm to another, the driver of the trucking company may be liable to compensate the victim for the damages they suffer. Truck drivers can cause truck accidents in a variety of different ways including: driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs; driving while fatigued; driving too fast for the roadway, traffic or weather conditions; failing to adjust their driving for the conditions; or by engaging in distracted driving.

In addition, trucking companies may be liable to compensate injured victims, depending on the relationship they have with the truck driver. If the company failed to properly maintain the truck or placed pressure on the truck driver to forgo rest or break requirements or to otherwise operate their truck in a careless or negligent manner, the company could be held responsible. A personal injury claim for damages can help truck accident victims recover physical, financial and emotional damages for the harm they have suffered.

When a negligent truck driver or trucking company has caused harm to victims, it is important that they are help accountable. This can help keep roadways safe but also ensure truck accident victims receive the help they need with medical expense; medical care; lost wages and earnings; and the pain and suffering damages often associated with a truck accident.
